The service
Gear Toolbox (geartoolbox.com) is a free collection of car performance calculators run by Fernando Margareto (see the legal notice). The calculators work in your browser. We may add, change or remove calculators and features at any time.
Results are estimates
Every result is an estimate based on the values you enter, on stated formulas and on typical values from technical references. Real engines, transmissions, wheels and tires differ from the assumptions, measurements contain errors and empirical formulas only describe average cars. Results are not professional, engineering or mechanical advice and are not a guarantee of fitment, power, times or performance. Check measurements, specifications and fitment with your shop or the parts manufacturer before buying, modifying or installing anything. Engine modifications may be subject to emissions laws in your state; checking and following the rules that apply to you is your responsibility. Performance estimates refer to closed courses such as a dragstrip, never to public roads.
Your use of the site
You agree to use the site lawfully and not to disrupt it, attempt to access it in unauthorized ways or copy it in bulk by automated means. The builds you save in My Garage are stored in your own browser; you are responsible for keeping a copy if you need one (the export button creates it).
Limitation of liability
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fernando Margareto is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, the calculators, their results or the content of the site, including damage to vehicles or parts, purchase costs and lost time. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as liability for intent or gross negligence, or the statutory rights you have as a consumer where you live.
Advertising and links
The site may show advertising provided by third parties and may link to other websites. We do not control their content and are not responsible for it. How advertising uses personal data is explained in the privacy notice and the cookie page.
Intellectual property
The texts, calculators, code, drawings, logo and design of Gear Toolbox belong to Fernando Margareto or are used with permission. You may use the results for your own projects and share links to the pages. Copying or republishing the site or substantial parts of it requires written permission.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the version on this page with its date applies from the moment it is published. These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country or state where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts that those laws allow.
